Ecomuseum du Fier Monde
2050 Amherst St, Montreal, Canada
About the company:
The Ecomuseum du Fier Monde was originally located in a building that was an ordinary public bath - in 1905, the townspeople decided to establish such an institution, and in 1927 this idea was implemented by the architect Joseph-Omer Marchand. He designed not only showers and changing rooms, but also excellent swimming pools. In 1956-1957, the building was reconstructed and 13 years later became a center for training athletes for participation in the 1976 Olympics. 20 years ago, the building was closed due to a variety of technical problems, and after several years of reconstruction opened in a new quality - as an eco-museum.
Currently, on the site of the grand pool, an equally chic assembly hall is arranged, in which conferences, exhibitions and symposia on the topic of environmental protection are held.
Several floors of the hall are surrounded from the inside by an elegant metal black fence, creating, together with the arches in the same style, a very harmonious and modern appearance of the room.
The museum has a permanent exhibition "Industrial Montreal of the early 20th century", which presents huge black and white documentary photographs of the life of the city of the beginning of the century, as well as household items and labor of Montrealers: laundry lohanies, safes, wrenches and even a huge variety of birdhouses.
In addition, the Ecomuseum constantly holds various exhibitions, where exhibits can not only be viewed, but also bought.
It is understandable that the main focus of such events is on environmental materials from which art objects are made, as well as on the depiction of animals, birds and insects.
