The picturesque Oakes Garden Theatre, located at the foot of Clifton Hill, is the perfect place for a relaxing leisurely stay and enjoy a beautiful panoramic view.
The garden is designed by Howard Dunington-Grubb and William Somerville. The garden was founded in 1936, while the designers used the existing contours of the landscape to embed artificial elements in them - arbors, bridges, iron gates. All this is now very harmoniously combined with greenery, flowers, shrubs and trees.
The garden includes such classic elements as the amphitheater, stairs, fountains, sculptures and sculptural bas-reliefs. The historic garden is a rare example of similar landscape architecture throughout Ontario and Canada.
