Lansdown Park

Ottawa, Ontario K1S 5H6, Canada

Description:

Along Bank Street and the Rideau Canal is Lansdown Park. Here in the heart of the city on 16 hectares of land there are several legendary sports grounds and stadiums, an exhibition complex and several entertainment scenes. Until 2010, it hosted Canada’s premier exhibition, Ottawa SuperEX, which attracted guests from all over the country.

Since 1847, exhibitions of agricultural achievements have been held here. innovation and the arts. Here was first demonstrated the invention with a still unknown name "telephone". Numerous exhibitions and fairs required a great deal of space, causing Lansdown Park to expand by another 12 hectares to include the Frank Clair Stadium and the Ottawa Civic Centre Arena, the Colosseum Exhibition and the Aberdeen Pavilion. Sports arenas host championships in curling, figure skating, Canadian football and hockey.

The original purpose of Lansdown Park as an exhibition complex gradually began to give way to landscape projects. Old dilapidated buildings were demolished, and new sections of the city park were smashed in their place.
