Sparks Street

Sparks St, Ottawa, ON K1A 0G9, Canada

Description:

Sparks Street in Ottawa is one of the city’s landmarks. Along this street are all the main business centers and the Bank of Canada, which houses the famous Museum of Money. In 1966, traffic was banned, turning Sparks Street into the city’s main pedestrian avenue. Here are all the main summer holidays, processions and demonstrations.

Of particular interest to tourists is the section of the street, which is called Sparks Street Mall or Sparks Street Shopping Square. Here among the fountains and sculptures is the largest number of open-air restaurants.

Other attractions on Sparks Street include the National War Memorial, opposite which is the National Arts Center. In the eastern part of the street you can find a number of old buildings, including the first skyscraper of Ottawa, the post office building and the building of the former tram company.
