Alexandra Bridge

Ottawa, ON, Canada

Description:

The Alexandra Bridge was built in 1898 for the Canadian Pacific Railway. It crosses the Ottawa River east of Parliament Hill. In 1950, the bridge was modernized to organize road and pedestrian traffic. Over time, the rail service was put around the city, leaving the bridge only for cars. Today, the Alexandra Bridge connects the suburbs of Ottawa and Gatineau.

On the east side of the bridge is the Canadian Museum of Civilization, and on the opposite side is the National Gallery of Art, next to which is the Canadian Mint Museum and the former Canadian War Museum.
