Laurier Avenue Bridge
661-671 Laurier Ave, Milton, ON L9T 4P2, Canada
Description:
Laurier Avenue Bridge is a continuation of the street of the same name, which the citizens themselves call Ottawa Road No. 48. The bridge divides it to the west and east, passing over the Rideau Canal, Colonel Bai Highway and Queen Elizabeth Highway. It is one of Ottawa’s most recognizable bridges. Thanks to its openwork green arches, it became famous as one of the best backgrounds on which tourists are photographed.
The Laurier Avenue Bridge consists of four car lanes and two pedestrian sidewalks. It was built in 1872 and twice extended to the east. On the south side of the bridge is the entrance to the headquarters of the Department of National Defense of Canada.
