Pretoria Bridge
Description:
The Pretoria Bridge in Ottawa runs over the Rideau Canal, connecting the eastern Glieb and Centertown areas on its banks to the western Old Ottawa East. The first bridge in this part of the city was located somewhat to the north, and was built of wood, being a continuation of Argyle Avenue. In 1970, severe damage to the support beams was found, and it was decided to create a new higher and wider bridge that would preserve the appearance of the first.
