Chaudier Falls

Chaudiere Falls, Ottawa, Ontario K1R, Canada

Description:

The most beautiful part of Quebec is the Chaudier Falls, located on the Ottawa River between the capital and the city of Gatineau. They are located in the narrowing of the river, and used to be one huge cauldron, the noise of which could be heard from many miles around. But after the construction of the dam, the waterfalls became shallow, and do not exceed a height of more than 60 meters. It is best to go to Shodière Falls in the spring, when the river is especially full.

Chaudier Falls in French means "waterfall-cauldron". At the beginning of the XIX century, when numerous hydraulic enterprises had not yet been built on the river, streams of water fell from the rocks with such force that they carved a deep pool in the stone. Today, such pressure no longer exists, but the water forms whirlpools, so swimming in the "pot" is not safe.
