Canadian Museum of Nature Ottawa

240 McLeod Street, Ottawa, ON K2P 2R1, Canada

About the company:

The Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa is located on the territory of a former farm. It was once owned by Scottish merchant William Stewart and was called Stuarton. In 1905, it was decided to build a building that would be an architectural addition to the Parliament of Canada. The House of Commons sat there for a while, but the Canadian Museum of Nature moved here in 1989.

The building is interesting in itself. It was originally designed with a central tower, but over time it was replaced with a glass cap that gives a full view. On the lowest floors and in the basements there is an Animalium with insects, arachnids and some amphibians, as well as a small theater of three-dimensional cinema. On the first floor there are souvenir shops and cafeterias. From here begins a tour of the hall of fossils, where you can see antiquities from the late Cretaceous period to the Eocene. On the second floor there is a gallery that introduces guests to the marine life and mammals of Canada. On the third floor is the exhibition hall of minerals. And at the top - a gallery of birds and an unusual children's installation "Discovery Zone"
