Canadian Museum of Modern Photography

380 Sussex Drive Ottawa, ON K1N 9N4, Canada

About the company:

The Museum of Contemporary Photography of Canada is located at the National Gallery. During World War II, a 160,000-strong collection of documentary photographs and reporting was launched. Until 1985 it was in a separate room and was inaccessible to visitors archive. It was only by joining the National Gallery that photographs became available to the public.

The main objective of the museum is to promote contemporary Canadian documentary and art photography. The building of the museum is a modernized section of the railway tunnel next to the Rideau Canal and the Grand Hotel Chateau Lorier. Expositions are located on the lower levels, which can be accessed through the foyer on the roadway.

Today, the museum’s collection includes about 200,000 photographs, 17,000 prints and multimedia works, as well as negatives and photo materials from the funds of the National Film Council. Here you can find exhibitions of modern artists and military chronicles.
