Central island
Description:
Central Island in Toronto is one of the three largest islands in Toronto, which are the most popular entertainment centers of the city, located in the open air.
The central island is located between Ward Island and Hanlan's Pioint. At the end of the XIX century, the wealthy families of Toronto erected here along the coastline summer houses in Victorian style. In 1884, by order of Archbishop Sweetman, the Anglican Church of St. Andrew was built here. There are also two large bridges that connect the island to the mainland of the city. The island can be reached by ferry.
The central island offers tourists a lot of entertainment: there is a specially designated park area for a picnic, consisting of 21 sites, 18 fountains with drinking water, as well as several cozy cafes.
