In the city of Toronto in the Canadian province of Ontario is the Church of St. Paul. This is the oldest cathedral in the state. The first temple was built of red brick, but in the early XIX century, due to the increased number of parishioners, it was rebuilt.

The architect of the new temple was Joseph Connolly, who took as a basis a model of the Roman temple of San Paolo Fuori le Moura. A parish school for children of Irish immigrants was opened in the new building. In August 1999, Pope John Paul II awarded the Church of St. Paul the rank of a minor basilica.
