Shri Swaminarayan Temple
61 Claireville Drive, Toronto, Canada
Description:
Sri Swaminarayan Temple is a Hindu temple that opened in Toronto in 2007. This wonderful Indian corner is considered one of the most beautiful Hindu temples in Toronto.
The temple of Sri Swaminarayan is built in ancient Indian traditions: for example, it is a structure of pure white marble with numerous carved decorative elements. More than one hundred masters worked on the creation of the temple, while it was built in record time - 18 months. Interestingly, the temple was created without the use of nails, while it is a clever multi-domed complex construction.
The opening of the temple in 2007 was unusually solemn, it was attended by top officials of the government of Canada and Indian gurus.
It is noteworthy that the most interesting detail of the temple is the upper hall, designed for meditation. So, the space is fragmented into parts by columns, which are reflected in the completely polished floor. In addition, the hall is decorated with fine lace made of marble, representing complex three-dimensional patterns, and pedestals with figures of Hindu deities illuminate the lamps invisible to tourists, forming endless galleries.
