Allan Gardens Conservatory Botanical Gardens

19 Horticultural Ave, Toronto, Canada | Between Jarvis, Sherbourne, Dundas and Gerrard Sts.

Description:

The Allan Gardens Conservatory is Toronto’s oldest park, founded in 1858. There is a conservatory (“green house”), a playground and two fenced areas for dog walking. The garden is run by Toronto Parks. The garden is open daily and entrance is free for everyone.

The garden contains rare species of tropical plants from around the world. There are 5 “green houses” occupying an area of 16,000 square kilometers. So, here you can see the Tropical House, Cool House with a waterfall, Central Banana House with banana palms, Kashmir House with a mini pond and citrus trees, as well as a huge pine tree. Here you can see such plants as hibiscus, dope, cacti and succulents.

The garden celebrates various holidays: during the Victorian Christmas show, the conservatory fills thousands of flowering plants with more than 40 different varieties. In addition, in this fun winter time, you can meet horse carts, ride on attractions and taste the delicious apple cider.
