Thomson Family Memorial Park
Gatineau Hudro Corridor, Toronto
Description:
The Thomson Family Memorial Park is located in Scarborough, near Toronto. The park is home to the first settlers, the Thomson family, who came here in 1796.
The Thomson Family Memorial Park is part of the Scarborough Historical Museum. Here you can still see the houses and outbuildings of the first British settlers who arrived in Ontario at the very end of the XVIII century. Near the park there are several houses of that time and the Presbyterian Church of St. Andrew with a cemetery where the founding fathers of the city were buried.
Today, the park is a popular holiday destination for Scarborough residents - a tennis court, football and softball fields are built here, regattas and boat swims are held on the river. The park often hosts picnics and outdoor celebrations, as the local picnic area can accommodate up to seven hundred visitors.
