Park Rouge

195 Rouge Hills Dr, Toronto

Description:

Rouge Park is a nature reserve on the outskirts of Toronto, established in the Rouge River Valley in 1995.

Park Rouge stretches on an area of 40 hectares near the regular urban development of Toronto. In the park there are two unique natural objects - a lake formed during the ice age, and the valley of the Rouge River - the Red River - the purest river in North America.

Rouge Park is the continent’s largest natural park, the boundaries of which lie within the city limits – about half of its territory is part of Toronto.

Park Rouge is located at the confluence of the river of the same name into Lake Ontario - one of the Great Lakes of North America.

The park was established in 1995 to protect the natural landscape of the river. In the park there are ancient buildings of the XIX century - these are mainly farms and agricultural buildings, which decided to use as bases, cafes and administrative buildings.

Visiting the park is free. There are several tens of kilometers of hiking routes, which are chosen by Toronto residents who come to the park by bus.
