Trinity Bellwoods Park
790 Queen St W, Toronto, Canada
Description:
In 1801, an army garrison was located on the site of a thousand acres park. The other half was occupied by Trinity College with a theological bias. These two completely different establishments existed side by side for more than a hundred years, until 1925. Only the main stone gate remains.
At the end of the XX century, the garrison and college buildings were empty, and in its place they decided to make a park. In 2001, it opened its doors to visitors for the first time.
On the vast territory of Trinity Bellwoods today there are sports grounds for basketball, rugby, football, volleyball. Also, bicycle trails, sidewalks for pedestrians, roller-skating paths, skateboards, toilets and places for walking with dogs.
The whole park is planted with various rare species of trees. There are those who remember the days of the garrison and college. Under the shadow of age-old plantations arranged arbors and benches. In addition, musicians often perform in the park, modern artists organize master classes, and farmers organize fairs.
