Casa Loma Mansion
1 Austin Terrace, Toronto, ON M5R, Canada
Description:
Connoisseurs of history in Toronto should definitely visit the ancient mansion of Casa Loma, located on one of the picturesque streets at a distance from the bustling business center. This mansion, towering on a hill, keeps a touch of romance and mystery.
The history of the mansion goes back to the early twentieth century - its construction was conducted from 1911 to 1914. Translated from Spanish, the name means “House on the Hill”. The owner was the famous figure Henry Pellat, who bought in 1903 several plots of land on which he began construction of his family nest. Toronto was just beginning its rapid development. Henry tried his best to decorate his house as exquisitely and better as possible, but he constantly faced difficulties, for example, excellent Italian furniture was never delivered - in Europe the First World War raged, and soon the owner of the estate was bankrupt. So the luxurious mansion was abandoned and was in desolation, until there were enthusiasts who achieved recognition of the mansion as a historical value.
Now there is a museum, in the interior of which there are household items of the owners, who played a significant role not only in the formation and development of Toronto, but also the entire province. Several halls present the hobbies and hobbies of the inhabitants of the mansion - from the attributes of the "Leader Girls", which at one time was headed by the wife of Henry Pellat and ending with army themes, since the owner of the mansion was in the service.
