Spadine Mansion
285 Spadina Rd., Toronto, Canada
Description:
Spadine House Museum is a historic building that has survived many eras, from the lush Victorian to the restrained urban Edwardian. Interesting to visit both the mansion itself and the surrounding gardens.
In particular, the house chronicles the life of four generations of a wealthy Austin family. James Austin was the first president of the Toronto-based Dominion Bank.
During the tour, tourists will be interested in exploring elegant furniture and exquisite interiors, which reflected the art of the late XIX - early XX century. A must-see is one of the fully restored Victorian gardens.
The museum was opened after reconstruction in 2010. The last resident of the house was Anna Austin, who left the house in 1892, gave the mansion as a gift to the Historical Council of the city.
