Description:
Allan Lamport Stadium is a multi-purpose arena located in the Liberty Village area of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The stadium has a capacity of 9,600 seats. It is mainly used for football or field hockey, as the arena lawn is designed specifically for these sports. The stadium is named after a prominent local politician who has always held sporting events in the city.
The stadium was built in 1975 on the site of the Andrew Mercer Women's Correctional Colony. The grand opening of the arena took place on July 1, 1975. Initially, the field of the stadium was covered with artificial lawn, but in 2009 the surface was replaced by natural. As a result, the lawn for the winter is covered with a special dome.
The stadium field is 68 meters wide and 105 meters long. The arena features the Toronto Football Club as well as the Canadian national rugby team. In addition to sports events, solemn ceremonies and holidays are also held in the arena.
