Holy Trinity Temple

23 Henry Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Description:

Holy Trinity Church in the Canadian city of Toronto was built by enthusiasts of the Orthodox community with the money of parishioners in 1966. There was no money to buy land and build a temple, so the former synagogue was reconstructed. The main merit of the creation of the temple belongs to Father Alexander Pisa and his wife, who came to Toronto to help reorganize the Russian Orthodox community into a living parish.

Near the temple was built a small chapel with an iconostasis, and on the second floor of the church was organized a parish school, in which the wife of Father Alexander taught the basics of the Orthodox religion, Russian history, literature and language.

Holy Trinity Church became the center of Russian Orthodox church life in Toronto. Every Sunday after the Liturgy, believers gather for tea with pies and other treats. There are also lectures and talks, choral performances, youth concerts and other events. During the holidays in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, regular bazaars with folk crafts and traditional Russian treats are organized for everyone.
