Bay Street

Front St. to Davenport Road, Toronto

Description:

Bay Street in Toronto is the financial center of Canada. Head offices of the 4 largest national banks of the country are located here.

Bay Street is in the south of the city. The street got its name from the Bay of Toronto, from which it originates. In the XVIII century, this place was called "Bear Street" - wild animals roamed here, which attacked the property of local farmers.

Historically, since the beginning of the XIX century, the southern part of Bay Street has become home to numerous financial offices and banks. There is a saying about greedy people: “His heart is cold as Bay Street.” Also on the street were the offices of the main print publications of Toronto.
