Bath Shoe Museum
327 Bloor St. W., Toronto, Canada | (at St. George St.)
About the company:
The Shoe Museum is located in the west of Toronto on Bloor Street. This street is also called a museum, because there are several institutions of this kind.
The creation of the collection originated with the shoe company Sonia Bata in 1940. The collection roamed from store to store until an impressive number of shoes were collected. Then, the organizers thought about the construction of a special building where you could arrange a whole museum. The author of the project was Raymond Maryama. Before offering any ideas, he personally inspected the collection. He was struck by boxes containing rare types of shoes. It was they who formed the basis for the idea of creating a building. Thus, in Toronto there was an unusual building in the form of a shoe box, the lid of which opened slightly.
The museum is open every day except Monday. More than 10 thousand pairs of shoes are presented for visitors. In addition, the museum often organizes seminars and lectures on the history of shoes.
