Capilano River Canyon

20 minutes north of Vancouver, Canada

Description:

Not far from Vancouver (a 20-minute drive) is a real oasis of wildlife - the Capilano River Canyon. The impressive 70-meter-deep stone slit is certainly one of the park’s strongest experiences.

An interesting place is an unusual suspension bridge across the canyon. Almost hovering above the ground at an altitude of 70 meters, the bridge stretches for a distance of 137 meters. It was built from hemp and boards by Scottish engineer George Grant Mackay in 1889 and is still preserved, though in an improved form.

A walk on the hanging bridge will leave an extraordinary impression, however, it is not for the faint of heart: from the look of the bridge seems quite reliable, but movement on it leads to reverse thoughts. Especially acute impressions arise among tourists when the bridge begins to sway - in windy weather or when tourists are crowded. According to sources, the bridge can hold 96 elephants.

But besides the bridge in the park in the vicinity of the canyon, there is something to see. Many trails for hiking give the opportunity to plunge into a real forest fairy tale.
