Strathcona Provincial Park

British Columbia, Canada

Description:

Eternal snows of mountain peaks, alpine landscapes with a surface of lakes, rapid rivers and streams, valleys and park areas, quite possibly, saw the captain of the Royal Navy James Cook, who landed in the western part of Vancouver in 1778. Strathcona Park has Canada’s highest waterfall, Della. Water flows fall in three cascades from a height of 440 meters, and feed its glaciers and alpine streams. Della is among the ten largest waterfalls in the world, surpassing Niagara Falls by eight times.

The main peak of the provincial park of Strathcona is the Golden Hind, and the most remarkable corner of the park is the Forbidden Plateau, where rainbow trout is found in transparent lakes, but where children and women are forbidden to be (according to legend, those who dare to set foot on the Forbidden Plateau will be immediately exterminated by evil spirits).

The abundance of flora and fauna of different climatic zones is due to the fact that Strathcona Park extends to a height of 1800 meters. And mild winters and pleasant warm weather in summer make the Strathcona provincial park a place attractive for tourists at any time of the year.
