Monument to a drunkard

Gastown, Vancouver, Canada

Description:

The monument to the drunkard, no doubt, likes all tourists, and especially Russians. It is worth noting that there are only about 10 monuments in Vancouver, and this is the most visited. The monument was erected to the famous drunkard of the city of Gassy Jack in the interesting Gastown district in memory of the construction of the city and the popular drinking culture of past centuries.

The monument was erected in the 1970s. Vancouver authorities reluctantly accepted the monument as a gift only in 1985, but to this day all the costs of maintaining the monument are borne by a private company, which gave it to the city. There are always many people who want to take pictures with this monument, including the indigenous people of Vancouver.
