Visiting the restored buildings of the fort, built in the nineteenth century, watching the daily theatrical performances, you will get acquainted with the life of European settlers in the province of Manitoba of the last century.

Lower Fort Harry played an important role in the history of the region. On August 3, 1871, the first treaty was signed between the Ojibwe Indian tribes and representatives of the crown. In exchange for money, livestock and agricultural implements, the Indians ceded land to the settlers in the province of Manitoba. In 1928, a memorial plaque with the text of the contract was installed on the territory of the historical park.

The lower fort served as an important transportation hub, a center of industry and trade in the region. The park has preserved some of the first stone buildings in Western Canada, which you will learn a lot about the methods and methods of construction used a century and a half ago. In addition, since 1873, the fort has served as a training base for the Northwest Mounted Police of Canada and you can learn a lot about the history of this unit here.
