Aberdare National Park
The park is located in the Aberdare Range area in central Kenya, about 100 km north of Nairobi.
Description:
This park is the third largest among Kenyan reserves and is not inferior in popularity to its main "competitors" - Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara. The park is located at an altitude of three thousand meters above sea level, and some mountain peaks exceed a height of four thousand meters. There are plains, streams, mountain rivers and waterfalls.
Numerous species of animals, birds and insects live in the park. Among them are leopards, elephants, antelopes, hyena-shaped dogs, African buffaloes, monkeys, jackals and others. The lucky ones can meet the golden cat. Here found their shelter endangered species of birds: endemic Aberdar cystocol, Jackson's Francoline, feldspar hawk, African grouse and burdocks with nectarines.
According to local legends, it is believed that the Aberdar Range, after which the park got its name, is the house of the god Ngai.
