What to see in Amboseli

Amboseli is a legendary national park whose name means salt dust in the Maasai language. The park is located at the foot of Kilimanjaro and its atmosphere combines wide savannahs, seasonal swamps and the majestic silhouettes of the mountain. The pristine nature of Africa is especially felt here: dawns with soft light, herds of elephants against a snow-covered peak and the living national heritage of local communities.

Manufactures and facilities

Among the man-made attractions of the region are objects created by people for the sake of meeting with nature and culture: tourist bases and observation decks in Amboseli, conservation centers and protected objects in Ol Pejeta, as well as lodges and campsites around Masai Mar. The nearest major cities – Nairobi and Mombasa – offer museums, markets and historic districts that complement the safari experience and allow a deeper understanding of the region’s context.

Natural attractions and places

The natural attractions here are impressive: the vast grassy plains of Amboseli, seasonal marshlands where herds gather, and the fascinating views of Kilimanjaro. In the vicinity are the national parks of Tsavo East and Tsavo West with their unique landscapes, the lakes of Naivasha and Nakuru, attracting birds, as well as the protected areas of Samburu and Ol Pejeta with rich fauna and unusual ecosystems.
