Amboseli National Park
Description:
Amboseli is translated from the language of the Maasai tribe as “salt dust”. The park is located near the slope of the African mountain Kilimanjaro and borders Tanzania. In 1906, these lands acquired the status of protected areas - the Maasai people lived on them. After about 40 years, animals living in the Amboseli area were protected, and in 1974 this area became a national park.
Amboseli covers an area of 392 square kilometers and is considered one of the most favorable places to observe the life of African animals. It is all about its plains and small vegetation, which allows you to see representatives of the fauna with the naked eye.
The park is dotted with a thousand streams formed as a result of the melting snow of Mount Kilimanjaro. They serve as a source of food for plants and moisture for animals. It's a reliable supply of fresh water. The hallmark of Amboseli was herds of elephants, to which you can reach a very close distance and enjoy an exciting sight. According to rough estimates, there are about 900 individuals in the park.
