Gurdwar Sikh Temple
Description:
One of the largest Sikh temples is in the village of Makindu, located between Nairobi and Mombasa. The appearance of the religious building in 1926 goes back to the time when the railway was being built in Kenya. Makindu was a train service place. Here lived railway masters, who were mostly Sikhs, fanatically professing Hinduism. Gradually, Makindu became a religious center that needed a temple. So there was a huge stone building, where Hindu rituals took place, and there were rooms for pilgrims to live.
This is one of the most peaceful and quiet corners of Kenya, where the whole environment is conducive to meditation and relaxation.
There are legends that tell of miraculous healings that took place in the temple.
