Karen Blixen Museum
About the company:
The house-museum of the famous Danish writer Baroness Karen Blixen, who forever gave her heart to Africa, is shrouded in a unique story of the life of her mistress. At the age of thirty, she and her husband went to Kenya to develop a coffee plantation. They have been doing their job for several years until it turns out that Karen is infected with a serious illness. In 1925, the couple divorced and Karen remained in Africa. She has an affair with a local hunter.
After the death of his beloved in a car accident, Karen returns to Europe and immerses himself in writing.
From her pen comes the book “Out of Africa”, which became a world bestseller and formed the basis of the eponymous film with Meryl Streep and Robert Radford.
After Karen Blixen's death in 1931, her home was preserved as a memorial. Subsequently, the Danish government gave Kenya both the house and the land around it. The villa was restored, and in 1986 opened to tourists and all those who love the work of this amazing woman.
