Naivasha

Lake Naivasha National Reserve

Kenya, Naivasha, Rift Valley.

Description:

Lake Naivasha is unique in its size, which constantly changes depending on the seasons. In dry times, the area of the lake is about 114 square kilometers, and in rainy times it can reach more than 990 square kilometers. Strong winds raise a storm on the lake. For this, the local Maasai people many years ago called the lake “Nairosha”, which means “troubled water”. The name was later changed by the Europeans.

The shores of the lake hide thickets of papyrus, and in the reserve there are many acacia trees that have long been chosen by various species of birds. To quench the thirst for Naivasha come giraffes, buffaloes. Hippos live here all the time. It should be noted that this is not the only water reserve. In addition to it, there are two more lakes: Oloidien and Sonachi.

The most favorable time for traveling here are September, October and the period from January to March.
