UNESCO Churches
Description:
During this tour, we will visit churches that are included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. In these churches, thanks to the wonderful climate of Cyprus, frescoes of the 11th and 15th centuries have been preserved. In total, there are ten such churches, they are located in small mountain villages and scattered throughout the island.
During the day we will visit only five of them, but you will get a full understanding of the values that the island holds since Byzantine times.
- Monastery of St. Lampadiste - frescoes of 11-15 centuries - the village of Kalopanoiotis.
- The Church of St. Nicholas is the village of Kakopetria.
- The temple of the Virgin Asinu is the village of Nikitari.
- The Temple of Our Lady Arakou is the village of Lagudera.
- The Temple of Archangel Michael is the village of Pedulos.
