Cavo Greco Forest Park
Description:
Kavo Greco National Forest Park is located in the southeastern part of the resort of Ayia Napa, Cyprus. Its area is about 380 hectares. The main objectives of the complex are to promote the development of tourist recreation and business, as well as the protection of the landscape. This amazing forest park is part of the Nature 2000 conservation program. It is widely known for its unique collection of crocuses, irises and orchids.
A new modernized project for the development of the park’s infrastructure made it possible to create bicycle routes, equipped observation decks, as well as special areas for recreation and picnics. Fans of outdoor activities in the Kavo Greco National Forest Park are provided with services such as diving, fishing, hiking, swimming and horseback riding. It is also possible to make an extreme parachute flight.
On the territory of the Kavo Greco National Forest Park, tourists can visit the temple of St. Anargyri, the steps of which lead directly to the sea. In addition, there are the ruins of the church of the goddess of love Aphrodite, as well as the Cyclops caves and underwater palaces with overhanging rocks and tunnels. In early 2009, an environmental awareness centre was opened in Cavo Greco, Cyprus.
