Ammostochos Stadium

Ammochostos Stadium, Larnaca, Cyprus

Description:

The history of the Ammostochos stadium is inextricably linked with one of the famous and significant football clubs Nea Salamis. It is based in the city of Larnaca, the center of tourism of the island. This club was here during the Turkish occupation. He had to leave the previous GSE stadium in Famagusta and move to Larnaca. For a long time the team trained and played in other clubs.

Ammostochos Stadium was built in 1991 with money raised by a fan club for their favorite team. This stadium has become the main venue and base of the club and remains so to this day. It is easy to see, as it is decorated in white and red (the official colors of the club), there is also an Olympic symbolism.

In 1998 reconstruction was carried out. The stadium is designed for 5,500 fans. Here also settled the club "Hermis" and the youth team of the island. It is planned to expand the stadium, it is assumed that this will give the opportunity to mark 7500 spectators. You can reach it by city bus.
