District Museum of the Middle Ages

Larnaka fort, Larnaca, Cyprus

About the company:

The District Museum of the Middle Ages is a small museum of medieval history located on the southern coast of the island of Cyprus, in Larnaca. The museum is housed in the building of an ancient defensive fort, which in itself is an important city landmark and attracts many tourists.

The fort in Larnaca was built in 1625 and was used for a long time to protect the port from the sea. Over time, this fortress lost its strategic importance, and during the British rule it was mainly used as a prison. And today there is the District Museum of the Middle Ages.

The museum has a rich collection of various exhibits - mainly here are artifacts found during the excavations of the ancient city of Kition. Here you can see samples of medieval weapons, dishes, various jewelry and other archaeological finds.
