The archaeological complex “Early Christian Basilica of Chryssopolis” is located in a place whose religious purpose has been preserved from the 4th century of our era to the present day. Turning on the imagination, you can recreate the appearance of the very first cathedral of Paphos, the house of the bishop, the Latin church of the Benedictine Order of the 13th century. Continues the Christian tradition of the church of St. Kiriyaki of the 15th century, in which Catholic masses are held today.
The monastery of St. Neophyte the Recluse. The first building on the territory of the monastery dates back to the XII century - this is a temple carved in the mountain. Here is also the cell of St. Neophyte, decorated with frescoes of the XIII-XIV centuries. The relics of the saint were found in 1746 and are now in the main church of the monastery. On the territory of the monastery there is a museum, where ancient icons and items of monastery utensils are collected.
The Monastery of Chrysoryatissa, like many other monasteries and churches of Cyprus, is dedicated to the Virgin Mary or the Virgin (Panagia), so it is sometimes also called the Monastery of the Virgin Chrysoryatissa. You will learn the beautiful legend of the foundation and name of this monastery. In the main temple there is an icon of the Most Holy Mother of God, according to legend written by the evangelist Luke himself. You can buy and taste monastery wine and local honey from the apiary nearby, as well as various souvenirs.
Agia Moni translates as a holy monastery. The monastery is a compound of the Kikki monastery. The newly restored main temple is a type of early Christian basilica.
