Church of St. Kiriyaki

Stilis Apostolou Pavlou

Description:

The Church of St. Kiriyaki was built in Cyprus in the 18th century. Today, active archaeological research and excavations are carried out on its territory. Earlier, this building was erected on the site of the demolished building of the basilica “Panagia Christopolitissa”. This temple is small and still works today. The church conducts:

  1. Regular worship services;
  2. liturgy;
  3. baptism of infants;
  4. funeral service.

Not far from the temple of St. Kiriyaki are the ruins of ancient columns. Once upon a time, the martyr-apostle of Christ Paul was attached to them. He was mercilessly carved with thin leather rods to the blood. This is evidenced by a small plate, which is placed on the side of the fragment of the column. Today, archaeological work by Greek scientists is actively conducted at this place.

The church is built near the city of Paphos and it will not be difficult to get here. This can be done by public transport or taxi, reaching a stop near St. Kiriyaki Church. Further, its inspection by tourists is carried out on foot.
