Description:

Tourists come to Cyprus not only to bask in the sun and visit the sea. There are many interesting historical places in Cyprus for connoisseurs of antiquities.

Curious historical places of Cyprus include the catacombs of Saint Solomonia in the resort of Paphos.

The Catacombs of Saint Solomonia are a cave in a limestone mountain called the Factory. In the early Christian period, there were chapels here. Not much is left of them. The chapels resemble only miraculously preserved remains of frescoes. There is a spring here that believers are eager to visit. There is a legend that the water in the spring is healing and is able to heal from eye diseases and the whole human body. However, you should not drink water from the spring, since the water is not running. In front of the entrance to the catacombs of St. Solomonia, a sprawling pistachio tree rises, hung with pieces of rags. Believers from all over the world strive to visit here to make a wish and leave a piece of cloth on the tree. There is a belief that the desire will come true.

To get to the holy place is possible if you are in Cyprus, in the city of Paphos, taking buses from the Central Bus Station. Bus numbers: 615, 15. You will need to get to a stop called the Catacombs of Solomonia.
