St. George's Memorial Museum

Agiou Georgiou, Chloraka, Cyprus

About the company:

The Museum of St. George is located in the village of Chloraka, Cyprus. It is a spacious building, the main attraction of which is a boat, on which the first batch of ammunition was brought to the island. From 1955 to 1959, a liberation movement was spreading in Cyprus, which was aimed at fighting the colonial domination of Britain and Greece. Also in the museum there is a collection of beautiful paintings devoted to military themes. They depict brave warriors who risked themselves to defend the honor of the island. From Monday to Thursday, the museum hosts excursions, and from Friday to Saturday – individual visits. The local English-speaking guide will tell you the brightest moments in the history of the liberation of Cyprus, as well as show you the famous boat of St. George.

The museum has a small souvenir shop, where you can buy reduced copies of the exhibits, as well as various items related to the history of the island. This place is perfect for family holidays, as it carries a lot of interesting and informative information.
