Day of the Border Guard of Kyrgyzstan
Description:

Initially, May 28 since 1958 was celebrated as the day of the border guard of the USSR.
By decree of the Council of People’s Commissars on May 28, 1918, the Border Guard of the RSFSR was established. At the same time, the Main Directorate of Border Guard was created, in which officers of the former Directorate of a separate corps of the Russian border guard moved in full strength.
In independent Kyrgyzstan, for the first time, the Day of the Border Guard on May 28 was established by the Decree of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic of December 15, 1999 No. 696, in order to form the traditions of the border service of the Kyrgyz Republic, promote its importance and ensure continuity.
On May 23, 2003, by the Decree of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 303, the celebration of the day of the border guard on May 28 was canceled and a new date was established - October 29.
Having twice celebrated the Day of the Border Guard of the Kyrgyz Republic on October 29, on the basis of the Decree of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic of May 26, 2005 No. 296-III, taking into account the appeal of veterans of the Border Guard Service of the Kyrgyz Republic, in order to continue the established traditions of border guards and to further form the traditions of the Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Government decided to return the historical date of May 28.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the issues of protecting the external borders, in particular, the Kyrgyz-Chinese border, were delegated to the border troops of the Russian Federation. After the withdrawal of units of the Federal Border Service of Russia, in order to protect and protect the state border, ensure the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of the country, the National Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic was formed by the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic of May 28, 1999 UE No. 131.
