Defender of the Fatherland Day
Description:
Youth of Kyrgyzstan congratulates veterans of the Great Patriotic War
Since 2003, Defender of the Fatherland Day in Kyrgyzstan is a public holiday, declared an official holiday.
Established by the Decree of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic of January 20, 2003 No. 17, in accordance with the recommendations set out in the resolution of the Legislative Assembly of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic of December 11, 2001 "On the establishment of the Day of Defender of the Fatherland" and for the purpose of military-patriotic education of the younger generation, creating conditions for the provision of honor and worthy of respect to war veterans and the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The history of this holiday is rooted in the revolutionary past of Russia. On January 15 (28, 1918), Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars V. I. Ulyanov (Lenin) signed a decree "On the Organization of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army (RKKA)", and on January 29 (February 11, N.) - a decree "On the Organization of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Fleet" (RKKF).
Exactly 90 years ago, on February 23, 1918, the Red Army Day was held in Petrograd under the slogan of defending the socialist Fatherland from the "Kaiser troops." In the documents of that time there are no words "German" or "German" troops, but only "Kaiser": apparently, in the interests of proletarian internationalism and by analogy with "tsarist troops."
Since 1922, the celebration of the Red Army and Navy has acquired the character of a great national holiday.
Since then, February 23 has been celebrated annually in the USSR as Red Army Day.
In 1946 it became known as the Day of the Soviet Army and Navy.
Every year on the eve of this day, events are held in which veterans of the Great Patriotic War, the Afghan and Batken events, all those who served and serve in the Armed Forces take part in special events.
This day is traditionally celebrated as the day of all men. A day when women give their husbands, fathers, sons special attention, care and of course gifts.
