The Dujiangyuan Irrigation System was built around 256 BC. One of the objectives of the project is to prevent the flooding of the Minh River, from which residents of the surrounding villages suffer annually. One of the officials at the court of the Qin kingdom named Libin decided to build a dam. As the story goes, he received money from King Zhao himself and was able to hire thousands of workers for the project. Zhao hoped to strengthen his possessions and continue to conquer other territories.

Upon completion, the floods stopped, and the fields of Sichuan province began to bring abundant harvests. This allowed the rulers of the Qin kingdom to maintain a large army. Later, King Qin Shihuang took advantage of this and became emperor of all China. It was under him that such remarkable monuments of China as the Terracotta Army in Xi'an and the Great Wall of China were created.

The system consists of three parts. The first part is a dam called Yuzui (Fishing mouth). It was built right in the middle of the river. You can see that in the picture. The second part of the system is a canal that runs through the mountain. To destroy the rock, ancient builders heated it and then watered it with water. The narrow throat of the channel allowed to regulate the amount of water in the system. It took 8 years to build a canal with a width of 20 meters. The third part is the spillway facility.

In addition, not far from the complex of irrigation facilities Dujiangyan are located Erwan Kumir, Fulunguan Temple, Anlanso Bridge and other attractions. Erwan Kumir is located on the mountain slope of the right bank of the Minjiang River in front of the Dujiangyan system.

At 12:00 lunch at a local restaurant (12:00-13:00), then send to the Taoist mountains of Qincheng 20 minutes drive. The complex has buses, boats, and a funicular so that tourists do not walk much. Recommended duration of visit: 3 hours

The Qingchengshan Mountains are the cradle of the Chinese religion, Taoism. The mountains are considered to be the best in terms of the conditions for Taoist training and the landscape for attracting the gods, respectively. Qingchengshan is the cradle of Taoism. This place of power is open to pilgrims. It is believed that the Qingchengshan Mountains stand with their backs to the snow-covered Minshan Range and face the Chuanxi Plain in the western part of Sichuan Province. In the Qingchengshan mountains there are 36 peaks, 72 caves, 108 picturesque places. Beautiful majestic mountain peaks and natural landscapes, covered with dense evergreen forest and bamboo thickets slopes. The ridge resembles a ring and from a distance it looks like a fortress, which is why the name Qingchengshan, which means “Green Fortress”.

These or other features of the Qingchengshan mountains are reflected in almost all meanings of the character "Yu": silence and tranquility (quiet temples of Taoists and their gardens), elegance (an elegant red staircase in the mountains), sophistication and elegance (a subtle and delicate aroma of wild flowers and herbs), euphony (sing of birds), shade (on the slopes of the mountains there are many dark and deep caves), fun (in the mountains there are sculptures of gods and people made with humor), interest (interesting legends spread).
