Chongqing Airport is one of the most important passenger airports in southern China. Over the past 10 years, the government has spent a huge amount of money on its development – in 2004, the construction of a second terminal was completed, which took care of domestic Chinese flights, and in the next five years, it is planned to build a third terminal and a second runway.
In 2011, Chongqing Airport was recognized as the best in the world in the category of airfields, capable of handling 10 to 20 million passengers per year. Chongqing is also considered to be the most intensively developing airport.
