Description:

Legend has it that the Great Southern Mosque of Jinan was founded during the ancient Ting Dynasty. One way or another, the first written confirmation of its existence appeared in 1295, during the reign of Emperor Timur Khan only for the first year.

In 1436, during the reign of Emperor Zhngtong, the reconstruction of the mosque began, and it became what we see it in our time. According to one version, in 1492, the emperor of Hongzhi ordered to expand the mosque to 6,630 square meters. m, but other records say that the sight was expanded by a completely different ruler.

The Cultural Revolution almost destroyed the mosque, damaged many historical artifacts that were stored inside it. Despite everything, today this place attracts tourists from all over the world.

The Great Southern Mosque preserves its traditions that have come to us since ancient times. For example, it is believed that the main entrance to the building is under reliable protection of the spirit of the wall. And many believe this, since the structure has existed for many centuries and, having survived serious destruction, continues to exist.
