The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a Catholic cathedral located in the city of Jinan, is one of the attractions not only of the city, but also of the province of Shandong. The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is built in the Gothic style, traditional for Catholic churches, and is now one of the most important regional architectural monuments. The cathedral has quite impressive dimensions, its total area is 1,650 square meters, and at least 800 people can freely fit inside.

The church was built over a period of five years, from 1901 to 1906, and funds for its construction were received from the insurance indemnity outlined in the Final Protocol signed by China and European states.

During the famous Cultural Revolution in 1966, the cathedral was closed, and all its interior decoration was dismantled. The second time the cathedral was opened only in 1985 after reconstruction. In 1992, the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was included in the list of historical monuments of Shandong province that are subject to protection.
