Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport is about 34 kilometers northeast of the city. The airport is the main one for Jinan City and the entire Shandong Province in general. In recent years, the airport has gained momentum in passenger traffic growth, mainly as do all airports located in major provincial cities. Since 2008, during the Olympics, the airport has rapidly opened up new routes, strengthening its reputation among airports throughout China, and international relations with other airlines.
