Lake Manasarovar
Mapang Yongcuo, Burang, Ngari, China
Description:
Lake Manasarovar (or Mpaham - in Tibetan means "Victorious Lake") is located at an altitude of 4560 meters. In the Indian epic Ramayana (5th century BC), Lake Manasarovar is already referred to as Lake Manasa.
Most travelers visit this beautiful lake on their way to Kailas. Believers make a ritual roundabout (koru) around the lake. This usually takes a few days. The water in the lake has a turquoise, "unearthly" color.
