Casa Garden

Praca de Luis de Camoes, Macau, China

Description:

Casa Garden is a small square located on the Macau Peninsula. It was established in 1770 as a private park in front of the residence of the famous Portuguese merchant Manuel Pereira. His beautiful villa is still in the heart of the garden. This is a snow-white mansion decorated with a red patterned curb throughout the facade. Casa Gardens used to be the headquarters of the East India Trading Company, and today it is the headquarters of the Oriental Foundation. It promotes Portuguese culture and provides several rooms for temporary exhibitions.

In front of the main entrance to the villa there is a small pond with lotuses and water lilies. There is a small Catholic chapel on the side. In 2005, the gardens of Casa were awarded the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
